Iron Mountain Farm
The Beginning
Our first Nigerian Dwarf goats came to us in 2019. Kimstead Minerva and Kimstead Dobby, originally intended as 4-H projects for the girls, soon became the foundation does of our herd. We had fallen in love with the breed and their milk. With the addition of our bucks, Denbow Acres Axl and Hilltown Meadows Blake, we continue to develop our herd, strengthening their dairy characteristics and thus their health and milk production. As a registered ADGA herd, our goats travel from spring to fall, showing in local ADGA shows around New England.

The Herd
Our herd has remained intentionally small. By keeping a small herd, the individual animals are handled more, trained more and watched more closely for any arising health concerns than in a larger herd. Our small farm allows all of our goats to get close personal attention by our family members. They are constantly handled and are well trained.
We breed our goats for show and milk. In our line we look for strong dairy characteristics and biddable personalities. Our does produce milk for our family and are trained to the milking routine twice daily. Additionally, since they're a show herd, they are used to being handled and led.
The health of our herd is paramount. Our goats are vaccinated and tested regularly for illnesses (clean-tested October 2024). We treat for parasites only when there is a need.
